YALE MEN'S BB WINS NCAA IVY LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - ON TO MKE!

In an amazing upset performance last Sunday, theYale men's basketball teamdefeated those rapscallions at Princeton University to take the Ivy League basketball title - ensuring them a spot in the NCAA tournament for the 6th time ever. Last time Yale appeared in the tournament, they beat the Baylor Bears in the first round of the 2016 tourney, winning their first-ever tournament game. It's amazing that they're back in the big dance once again. Boola boola, indeed!

Amazingly, they were seeded #14 andselected to play their first round game right here in beautiful Milwaukee, WI at 1pm on Friday, March 18th vs Purdue! While I'd like to take credit for this, I assure you that the YAW minions were not at all involved in this beautiful happenstance. This awesome opportunity allows some of our alums to help show up and support our Yale men's basketball team.

Yale athletics has helped to quickly organize a pre-game mixer starting at 10:30am on Friday March 18th at theOak Barrel Public Houseright on Old World 3rd street a block from the Fiserv Forum. Admission is $20 and gets you heavy hors d'oeurves and private room to hang with other Yalies before the big dance begins.  Register for that eventRIGHT HERE!

Yale has also helped arrange a Yale-specific seating area in section 105of the Fiserv Forum, and has arranged a separate ticketing site. That can be foundHERE. THESE SEATS WILL SELL QUICKLY and are $100/piece - much cheaper than secondary sites are currently selling them. So buy now if you want to go. FYI the ticket also gets you admission to the 3:30pm game (Virginia Tech vs. Texas).

More info and opportunities to donate to Yale Athletics can be found at the event website that Yale has organized which isHERE.

I hope some of you can attend, and if you do, please send me some photos! Truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Yale play in the NCAA tourney right here in MKE.

Yale Women's Hockey Advances to the Frozen Four

Not to be outdone, the Yale Women's Hockey team has advanced to Frozen Four NCAA hockey championships this year! This is the first time the Yale Women's team, currently ranked #5 in the country, will compete in the national championship. They defeated #4 Colgate last weekend in overtime in the Eastern finals, earning them the right to compete against Ohio State next weekend in the semifinals of the national champtionship! You can see the game-winning shot rightHERE!

The game vs #1 ranked Ohio State will be at 7pm EST/6pm CST this friday, March 18th and should be available on ESPN+ to stream with your membership there, or for a small fee. More info at Yale Athletics can be foundHERE.

In addition, we'll likely have an offering for a service event that AM in conjunction with our friends in the local Harvard Alumni of Wisconsin to assist in clean-up of Washington Park in Milwaukee that AM from 10-noon for those that prefer to stay more central to the city of Milwaukee. We'll have more information on that event in the coming month or so as we finalize those plans.

Other Upcoming Events/News...

  • We can always use more volunteers to help wtih our local ASC chapters for alumni interviews - just respond to this email if you're interested in helping out. We had over 50,000 applications to Yale last year, a new record, and we always need able help with this task.

Lastly, if you have a suggestion for a social event or educational activity that would be of meaning to the YAW membership, we are happy to help coordinate and advertise!
